Congratulations, Elisabeth!

Congratulations to a great sister! We had a party for her early this month and she basically planned the whole party. 🙂 I’m sure Mom appreciated that.  It was a hot and sunny day, but despite the heat it was great.

A Picture Post

My sister Elisabeth (http://ruhamahandthespikenard.blogspot.com/) gave me the idea to do a picture post. Okay, okay, she didn’t literally say “Lydia, you should do a picture post on your blog!” but, she was going to do something of the sort on her blog so I decided  to do one myself.

This is kinda a bad picture but it is very funny! Right to left is Mom, my sister Bethany, my mom’s friend Mrs. Davis, me, and Charlotte Davis ( Charlotte is taking a BIG bite and making sure she opens her mouth wide enough!).  We had had a nice picnic, next we went saw some pottery and then we decided to top the day off with yummy ice cream . Tea Party Fun

Lydia and I did a tea party this Friday. We were trying to think of a theme, and were having a hard time over it. Lydia mentioned doing a Lego theme (she was in her Lego mood 🙂 ) which gave me the idea of doing the theme we ended up doing. Can you guess what we landed on?

Yeah, we still did Legos ;) . I made this house. If you look closely you might notice the struggle going on with the police Lego guys and the other Lego guys.

Here's some of the food. (By the way, this for lunch if your thinking it's a lot of food for a tea party).

These sandwiches might give you a hint on the theme. ;)

These were some made up pie crust bites. Some are blueberry and others are hot dog/cheese.

So if you haven’t guessed the theme yet then… oh well.

Later that night we had "Korean beef". Not sure how authentic it was and I substituted soy sauce for Worcestershire sauce which Mom always tells me is NOT the same but, hey, it's the same color and texture. :)

Ways that Christ Fulfills the Old Testament

Christ fulfills all the Old Testament prophecies spoken of Him. We see in Psalm 22 that clearly Christ fills out the role of the speaker saying, in fact, some of the exact words that the Psalmist used in the Psalm. In verse 18 he says, “They divided My garments among them, and for My clothing they cast lots.” This is what the soldiers did with Jesus clothing after they had nailed Him to a cross.

In Isaiah 7:14 it says, “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.” This is exactly what happened for we see in Matthew 1 that Mary conceived Jesus before she had been with any man. We also see that Immanuel means, “God with us”, and this is in fact exactly who Jesus is.

Certainly a clear passage talking of Jesus is in Isaiah 53. Here it talks of Jesus coming to earth as a man lowly, despised, and rejected. Isaiah 53:7 tells us that, “He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so He opened not His mouth.” Yes, Jesus, indeed, went to the cross willingly and silently in submission to His Father. Also it says in the same chapter that “He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses.” Jesus spent His whole life on earth healing many people and doing wonderful miracles.

“But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are not the least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you shall come a Ruler who will shepherd My people Israel.” This passage in Micah talks about Jesus being born in Bethlehem and He is the Ruler, glorious and beautiful in all His ways.

In Matthew Jesus says, “Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. For I have come to ‘set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law’; and ‘a man’s enemies will be those of his own household.”

From Psalm 78 the readings do say, “I will open My mouth in parables; I will utter things kept secret from the foundation of the world.” Jesus proclaimed many parables of truth that were not declared beforehand.

Zechariah tells us, “Tell the daughter of Zion, ‘Behold your King is coming to you, lowly, and sitting on a donkey, a colt, the foal of a donkey.’” This passage speaks of Jesus coming on a donkey’s colt when He enters Jerusalem, and He is, undeniably, the King of not only the Hebrews, but everyone and whoever will follow after Him will allow Him to be the wonderful King that He is over their lives.

“The Lord said to my Lord, ‘Sit at My right hand, till I make Your enemies Your footstool’” (Psalm 110:1). This tells of God talking to Jesus and Jesus is sitting at God’s right hand.

Judas Iscariot is spoken of in Psalm 41:9 where the Psalmist says, “He who eats bread with Me has lifted up his heel against Me.” Judas betrayed Jesus even though he was one of the twelve of Jesus’ close friends.

In Psalm 69:4 it says, “They hated Me without a cause.” Many of the Jews and others hated Jesus irrationally, but before we became His we hated Him the same as they.

These passages and so many others show visibly that Jesus is indeed the promised Messiah to Jews, and to Jews, Greeks, Indians, Malay-Indonesians, Zimbabweans, Chinese, Waodonians, and all nations, peoples, kingdoms, and tribes He is the King of kings, the Great I AM, God Almighty.
